[BlindMath] screen reader with math equations?

Steve, the latest word on the LEAN Editor is that I agreed some time ago to
make it open source. But truthfully I would like some help refactoring it
before I do that. As you know I am not a competent software writer, and LEAN
is just a hacked-up Python program. It has some crucial communication parts
written by competent people, but I am sure that it is just luck that it
works at all. In the meantime, anybody who wants to use it is welcome.

Incidentally, the original post from Cindy Arthur said she was using the MS
Math Editor. NVDA does not read Math Editor equations. You must have
MathType installed for NVDA (and for LEAN). MathType will convert equations
written with the Math Editor, though the conversion is not perfect. But then
Math Editor isn't perfect either.

John Gardner's LEAN Editor is another approach. Perhaps if he sees this he
can provide the latest information on that. I had the chance to use it last
summer and thought it has real potential.

Any suggestions on a way to create math equations that can be read by a
screen reader? We are largely using NVDA for screen reading. We have tried
the equation editor in Microsoft word with no success as well as the
equation editor, Math ML. We also tried using MathPlayer but couldn't seem
to get it to work.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
