Hello all!

I sadly have to report that the ASWB license practice exams are not screen
reader accessible at all. I use MAGic with speech and I was very frustrated
when it didn't read anything. It tells you later what you clicked on but
doesn't read the screen at all. I forgot what it said,, but it treated the
screen as one big graphic. I think it was created as an interactive slide
show. Even if you are able to use magnification software I do not recommend
it unless you do not need the extra support of the accompanying speech. It
is too graphic intensive and it is not scripted to work with screen
software. It will work for me, but I don't want anyone to waste precious
cash on something you are timed on. It just isn't worth the $75 unless you
have a live-in screen reader (spouse) who is patient and dedicated enough to
read the questions, review notes, etc. It's user-friendly to the sighted
world.

As caviler as I am about this, it really is a big problem for many of us who
are wanting to do well on the exams. We deserve all the study advantages as
the sighted have. Where do we start to change this? We all need to work
with them for certain. I"ve learned ASWB is slow on the draw to change
things. They just revamped their homepage and of course it's graphic
intense too. The directions on my confirmation email with my password were
not right and I lost an hour of my life trying to find a log in spot that
was on the bottom of the screen not the top as indicated. I called ASWB and
let them know. I hope they change that. I explained to her how directions
make a difference because I was using enlargement software on my computer
and it didn't show the entire sccreen. She thanked me for calling and said
that sighted people aren't that observant. She was going to contact the
department that spits out the autoemails and let them know they need to
change the log in directions. I guess that's what you get for having
social workers, not IT running a site! (smiles!)

To all our test takers, Happy Studying!
(Happy Thanksgiving and Hanukkah too)
