Hello Human Services Members and interested list serv members,

Below you will find a message from Valerie Yingling requesting input
regarding your experiences with Electronic Health Records (HER). This topic
was discussed at our annual convention meeting in July 2014. This is a very
important issue for those of us in fields where medical records are and/or
will be a part of our profession. This is the time to be proactive on this
issue. Our National office needs your help so they can help our current or
your upcoming professions. So, I encourage you please read the message
below and respond to Valerie ASAP. Feel free to share with others you may
know who is or will be affected by the inaccessibility of electronic health
records.

With Warm Regards,
Merry C. Schoch

Subject: [Nfbnet-members-list] Seeking Electronic Health Record (EHR)
Accessibility Information

Dear Federationists,

The NFB is seeking your feedback regarding accessibility features available
within Electronic Health Record (EHR) software, in light of the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services' public comment period for revised
EHR certification criteria.

If you are blind and work in the healthcare industry or are a student
preparing for a career in the healthcare industry and encounter EHRs
regularly at your job or as a part of your studies, NFB needs to hear from
you. In an effort to understand how blind individuals are affected by the
influx of EHRs, NFB is gathering data from members whose job duties or
coursework involve entering, reviewing, and / or retrieving data within
EHRs. EHRs in question may include Epic, Allscripts, Cerner,
eClinicalWorks, NextGen and other software companies' products.

Please call Valerie Yingling, paralegal, at 410-659-9314 x 2440 to share
your EHR experiences, both positive and negative.
