The AFB just introduced a new app:
The American Foundation for the Blind's CareerConnect Web Program provides
vision professionals, job seekers, family members, and youth who are blind
or visually impaired with a resource that fits in their pocket. AFB has
designed the CareerConnect App around some of the key features of the AFB
CareerConnect Program. This could be your quick lesson idea, the tips
toward finding your next job, or the inspiration and advice toward your
first career.

If you are a teacher, transition specialist, rehabilitation counselor, or a
related professional:

* Use over 80 focused transition lessons from the Lesson Plans tab
with your students who are blind or visually impaired

* Use the Our Stories tab's employment clustered success stories to
inspire and inform youth about the path of successful people who are blind
or visually impaired.

* Read and share the transition and employment related advice for
youth and job seekers who are blind or visually impaired through the
CareerConnect Blog tab.

* Stay up to date with the latest changes and announcements through
the CareerConnect Blog tab.

If you are a job seeker, transitioning youth, or want to maintain your
employment:

* Read the tips and advice from the CareerConnect Blog tab.

* Read the Our Stories pieces to find out how successful persons who
are blind or visually impaired do their job and found their road to success.

If you are a parent or family member of a youth who is blind or visually
impaired:

* Use the lessons from the Lesson Plans tab for creative and easy
lessons that build toward independence and success in employment.

* Use the Our Stories tab to explore over 100 success stories about
persons who are blind or visually impaired, employed, or making great
strides toward success.

* Read the CareerConnect Blog tab to stay up to date with resources,
changes in the program, and useful advice.

Don't be left behind, download the CareerConnect App from the Apple App
Store today for your iPhone or iPod Touch. AFB will be adding new features
and functionality through the coming year. The price is just right, FREE!

Hello,
As a job seeker, I'm interested in what is accessible software wise as that
would open up jobs like patient scheduler to us.
One is medical master mind. is this accessible?

Look forward to your recording. Please let us know when its up.

Thanks.

Ashley

Hi Ericka,

I do not have an answer about what is accessible. We have a speaker coming
to our meeting to talk on that topic as well as someone from EEOC. We will
be recording out meeting and putting up on the web site after convention.

On the young professionals listserve people are asking about the
accessibility of electronic records. Some are looking at things from a
receptionist point of view and others are looking at things from a different
side of the occupational realm. Is there any update I can share with
them, at least some systems that are more accessible for us than others?
Also, there have been several EEOC and related employment questions some of
which are humans servcice field related. What is planned as far as
speakers for convention and will our meeting be streamed? Several on the
list are unable to attend convention and wondered if it would at least be
archived somehow.

Sorry so many questions for a weekend brain. Now that it's raining again I
are stuck inside thinking about these things.
