[humanser] What's a psychotherapist to do?

Hi Paulette,
I was wondering what I might want to do, and I came up with one. It
is hard to know what her interests are, but I have a center here that offers
equine therapy for the disabled that also relies heavily on volunteers. The
individuals work with the horses and it can be joyful and therapeutic.
In Nebo, there is one calledKentucky Equine Abilities Center. I
think that she could combine her interests in sports with helping others and
benefit from the wonderful healing spirit of the horses.
The horse will adjust its heart rate to the individual that is
working with it. They are very empathetic animals that provide incredible
healing experiences for both the volunteers and the individuals receiving
services.
	Their website is:
http://www.kentuckyhorsetherapy.org/equine-therapy.html
I know that the site is about 120 miles from Louisville, but I am
certain that there are opportunities that may be closer.
Let us know how things go!

Subject: [humanser] What's a psychotherapist to do?

Hi all,

I am seeing a 15 year old girl on Saturday afternoon. She is a very serious
girl. She goes to school, plays sports, does homework at home, then goes to
bed. Her mother and slightly older sister argue a lot and are both quite
volatile and controlling. With out going further into the matter, the girl
doesn't know how to relax and just have fun. I want to break her pattern of
seriousness by doing something unexpected and fun. However, I have not
worked with adolescents for quite a while. I can think of several things I
could do with younger children, but I am stumpt about what to do with her.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Paulette
