Dear friends,
I find it interesting and have not applied for counseling positions yet, yet I am sure it is very frustrating and strenuous when seeing a requirement is a driver’s license. As one member also stated about having a state issued ID, I also have such of an identification. WhenI used to drive, I had a driver’s liscense number on my card. What is interesting, on my current state issued ID, I still have the same number on my card, even though it is no longer a driver’s license. So with that being the case, I could see that using that identification number would fill the requirement of such an identification number; and when we have our actual person-to-person interview, we can expound, advocate, and clarify any discrepancies. Another thought I had was that when a police officer asks for a driver’s driver license, they are not just looking to see if the person is clear to drive, but to also investigate whether there are any traffic violations, warrants, and other law violations. So is part of this request to check to see if a potential employee has a record or not? I would not want to have an employee working for me, that is going to transport any clients, if they have a record or their history shows poor judgement, which would be a safety concern to the clients. Somehow, and this is just my thoughts, we need to educate the authors of such documents, that there may be qualified employees, or even overqualified employees, as one mentioned, that may not have a driver’s license. I look forward to hearing more from you guys and your thoughts. Also, I wish anyone who is struggling with this issue discernment and hope things work out! Everyone have a great weekend!
