Subject: [humanser] Resource for Students and/or Persons Seeking Employment

Hello All,

While serving on the Education and Development Committee, I came across a
resource developed by Mississippi State University entitled:
Career Advantage for V.I.P.s: An Employment Preparation Primer for
Individuals who are Blind or Visually Impaired! The purpose of the program
is to assist blind and visually impaired students and/or persons preparing
for and seeking employment.

Individuals interested in accessing the program material are asked to
complete a short survey before a link to the material is provided. The link
to the survey is:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CAvipseer portfolio.eer portfolio.

Once the survey is completed, you will be sent a link to the program. There
is an introduction to the program and eight instructional modules. Program
material includes: personality, values, interests, and skills assessments,
career exploration, job search techniques, writing resumes and cover letters
and completing job applications, information about the Job Accommodation
Network, talking about vision loss, accommodations and disclosure,
interviewing and developing a career portfolio. There are activities and
exercises throughout the program and you can complete it at your own pace.

When you finish the material, you have an opportunity to provide feedback.

It is my hope that some of you on this list will find this resource useful.

Mary Ann Robinson, Education and Development Committee Chair
