Good Afternoon Students!
>
> I hope that you are picking out your best suits, finest blouses, and cleanest shoes for our 50th Anniversary celebration in Grand Rapids!!! Our affiliate's family reunion, the NFBMi State Convention, is swiftly approaching and I can't wait to be alongside all of you in your Saturday's best at our banquet on Saturday, November 9th. Before we get to that, however, we should talk about the chatter surrounding Friday, November 8th. From 9pm- 12AM, everyone whose anyone will be at "Michigan's Got Talent," an entertainment and fellowship spectacle produced by the Michigan Association of Blind Students. Join the student division and other affiliate members in rooting on and supporting our fellow students and chapter members in showcasing their many talents. With a panel of celebrity judges, including our National Rep and NABS rep, the entire experience will be one to remember.

> Though preregistration has come and gone, it is not too late to get your seat at the event! Simply find our board member, Taylor Arndt, at the door and request an admission wristband for a slight price increase of $7 and you are golden! If you have already preregistered for the event, be sure to pick up your registration packet on Friday afternoon. Inside, you will find your wristband, which you have to brandish to Taylor when you arrive and you are permitted to enter the room. This event also offers door prizes, which any preregistered attendee or competitor is eligible to win, as well as delicious appetizers and a cash bar! I am sure we can all enjoy that!
>
> If you are interested in competing in the event, it is not too late to sign up. The student division will award three prizes to competitors, with the grand prize being cash money! To sign up as a competitor, visit www.nfbmi.org/convention and click the link for the Google Form for competitors. Remember, this is not a singing competition, so all talents are fair game. I half wonder if I should scrap being a host and sign up myself. I could sport a one-piece leotard and do some interpretative dance :). Anyway, be sure to attend, because competition is getting stiff and we look forward to connecting with you all soon.
