Miranda,

Does your dad have auto-updates turned on? The same thing happened to
me after I was away for the summer on my mom's computer. Internet
Explorer updated to version 8, I talked to the FS people and they said
that IE 8 and JAWS 9 (or earlier) would not work anymoore. I suggest
upgrading your JAWS to 10 or later, or if that is not an option,
getting FireFox. It's not the same and some of the controls are a bit
different, but it gets the job done fairly well.
