Yeah, That works also, and you probably will be doing some of that.  
This is
a great tactic if you just want to go a wandering and exploring on your 
own.

Hi,

I've gone to a few events like this, and there is no shame in just 
walking
 from table to table and asking what each is if that is what you  need 
to do.
Getting an agenda would be ideal, but if necessary you can just make the
rounds and if you find a table you don't have an interest in, just 
continue
on.
