[nabs-l] Braille Slate and Stylus advice.

My personal preference is for the pins to be on the bottom. I usually use
what I believe is call the Brown Slate. This has a section in the back that
opens and allows one to read the braille without removing the paper. These
slates do tend to cost more; however, to me the extra expense is worth it
for the convenience alone.

Anyyway, there's my thoughts. And they may be worth what you paid for them.

The pins their talking about push through the paper to hold it in the slate.
The only slates I've used have them on the bottom, but I don't imagine it
really matters. I've used both plastic and metal and I don't think there's
a noticeable difference in how they work. Plastic is lighter if you want to
carry the slate around with you. Other than that, I'd go with the less
expensive option.

Hello Everyone,
I've been looking at the Independent Living Aids website where they sell a
range of slate and stylus products for creating Braille. I live in Europe
and they don't sell them here. I've never used one and wanted to know
people's thoughts; metal or plastic? Pins on top or pins on the bottom and
what does that even mean when using the slate?

Very best wishes,
Sandra.
