[nagdu] dogs eating things that are bad for them

I can not verify this with any degree of certainty, but a knowledgeable
person told me that coffee, in particular caffeine is bad for dogs. It
makes sense because chocolate which is notoriously toxic for dogs is loaded
with caffeine. I couldn't imagine a dog drinking coffee, but my current
guide seems to really like it. She will get the loose plastic lid and lick
it dry. I use cream, so this may be what she really likes, but this person
told me that he had more than one dog who would take it black. The world is
full of potholes, I guess I'll have to ask my vet, but until then, better
safe than sorry.

Hi Jenn,
As far as I know, bananas are just fine for dogs. In fact, they are my
guide's all time favorite treat. /smile/

An average banana has about 100 calories in it and they add minerals and
fiber to the dog's diet.
Especially if you share the banana with your dog, it is certainly not a
fattening or unhealthy treat.

My guide has been a banana lover for years and at nine and a half he's very
healthy and lively. So, the bananas can't be harming him, as far as I can
tell.

Actually, I've asked more than one vet about bananas for dogs and all have
told me that they are fine.

hth,
Laurie
