Gary,

Welcome to the list! I'm currently working my first owner-trained poodle
guide, who recently turned three and is doing very well. I happen to enjoy
her type of temperament and really appreciate what her poodleness adds to
her work enough to have persevered through her wild and crazy youth.

There are others with more experience with labradoodles, so I will let them
tell you what they know.

As for GDD, I know some happy poodle guide users from there, but not very
well. Don't know any labradoodle users, though.

My Mitzi has kin there, both working dogs and breeding dogs. Her breeder
breeds for temperament, preferring to produce good, sound companion dogs
instead of show poodles. She has certainly succeeded in the temperament
area, and Mitzi is very sound and well-conformed, as well. I know the
breeder also produces lab/poodle crosses, but I can't vouch for them and
don't know I she's donated any to GDD.

The fact that GDD has such great taste in poodles makes me think they must
be wonderful! /grin/ And I have heard good things about them.

Good luck! Keeps us posted on your progress and learning!

Subject: [nagdu] labradoodles and schools that use them?

Hello:

I am currently researching getting a guide dog. I am looking for a dog that
doesn't shed and would prefer labradoodles over a poodle.

First, do people know which schools currently use labradoodles? Secondly, is
there a place where I could read ratings of guide dog schools? In my limited
research it seems that guide dogs of the desert is a school that uses
labradoodles consistantly. Are there any gdd graduates on this list?

Lastly, is there anyone on this list that uses a labradoodle? What do you
think of fthem? How much do they shed?

I'll probably have many more questions but this is a start.

Thank you in advance.

Gary
