[nagdu] Odd encounter

Sean,

Ye olde drunk on the bus. Ain't that a hoot. Sigh. Glad Franklin took it
in stride! The thing I have found about drunks on busses is that they're so
unpredictable I can never come up with an advance plan to deal with such
things. Makes want to get off the bus and have a stiff drink or two...

Oddly, the only place where I can almost count on having someone get between
me and my dog and separate us, stringing the leash across foot traffic, then
grabbing the sides of her face is ... wait for it! ... Oregon Commission for
the Blind! I am not kidding. That's another thing I really want to get on
film. I have no idea who that woman is, but she does it every time, which
leaves me in an awkward position. If I don't have a body guard present, I
don't want to get too assertive, because of the danger of things getting
physical... So what do you do? These days I have no reason to go in, and
DD always goes with. Some day, though, I'm going to find a chance to wander
in off the street trailed by someone they don't know who will just happen to
be carrying a video camera...

Anyway, as for random oddities on the bus, especially from people who are
mentally altered and therefore difficult to communicate with in the usual
fashion... There's always the conflict between the choice to get more
forceful to convince them to leave the dog alone or to decide that so long
as the person isn't putting the dog in physical danger... I dunno. Tricky
to just tuck the dog under the seat when you have legs and feet and leash
all messed up between you and the dog. I hate that!

A friend and I did discuss the problem at one time and decided the best
solution would be an irish wolfhound for a guide... If all else failed, the
dog could just pick the offender up by the scruff of the neck and dump
him/her somewhere out of the way... /lol/ So now every time I'm standing
at a bus stop and hear someone approach, I can't help picturing myself with
wolfhound Mitzi... Which is entertaining, at least. /grin/

Okay so today going home on the bus. Franklin and I had a rather odd
encounter.

We were at the Bus Station, as this drunk guy gets on, he's surely drunk
because I smell it on him and he's making no sense at all. I'm sitting
looking at this guy, as he's about to sit down on the seat, he forces
Franklin to lay down, Franklin just staring at the guy. He gives a curse or
two and pulls Franklin's head away who I think is sniffing his shoes. Oh and
he was between Franklin and I. A little later on he held Franklin's face and
forces him to look at him. I really thought Franklin would have done
something but he just stared at the guy like he was nuts.

After the guy got off the bus, Franklin stared out the door windows.
I think saying: Okay the crazy guy is gone that's good.

Yours,
Sean Moore and Franklin
