[nagdu] NFB Canes

Cheryl,

Huh. That's where I got mine, and the same thing happened at the top,
except that instead of coming apart, it simply refuses to collapse in one
section. So it is now topless and uncollapsed, standing in the corner of
the laundry room as my officially designated "back door" cane. /shrug/

Most people I know who have the telescoping canes have great success with
them, so maybe it was just a "bad batch" or something that year? I did end
up buying a little skinny folding graphite cane as a nice, light pocket
cane, and it does work for fending off trees and picnic tables at the dog
park or even darting into a store from the car for a quick something...
Actually using the thing is a little iffy, though. Not only is it flimsy as
can be, but it's so skinny that it's almost impossible to use in my most
common technique. Still, if something happens and I need it to get home, it
will be nice to have it in my purse or pocket. /smile/

Tami Smith-Kinney

I got mine at the NFB convention in dallas in 2008 and the darning the top
of it came off and then it just fell apart.

I've never seen the telescopic cane come apart. Oh my! You do have to make

sure it is really un-telescoped before taking off. I remember how pleased
Dr. Jernigan was with the telescoping NFB cane!
