Hi Jewel. The sport style harness is similar to the British style harness.
It is constructed with heavy nylon webbing and heavy duty plastic hardware
and it is padded with neoprene. It is light weight and very comfortable for
the dog. The girth strap goes around the dog right behind the front legs.
The top of this strap
is 2 inches wide. The side release buckle, which is used to fasten the
harness is located right behind either the right, or left elbow of the dog.
The
girth strap is adjustable with a tri-glide mechanism. There are shoulder
straps that go over the dog from the top of the girth strap to the front of
the
dog at the breastbone. A martingale strap runs from the shoulder straps in
front, between the dog's front legs and threads through the girth strap. The
front of the harness looks like the print letter "Y". A D ring accessory
attachment point is located on the top of the back strap. The handle
attaches on the top of the shoulder straps, and it does not have stabilizer
loops which allows the handle to have more latteral movement. There are side
release buckles which can be used to attach the handle to the harness. This
style of harness provides total freedom of movement for the dog, while
allowing the handler increased sensativity to the movements of the guide.
The Standard style harness is basically the same as the harnesses issued by
the schools, except that it is made from nylon and padded with neoprene. The
standard style can also have an optional martingale.
The relieving harness is a one inch wide belt with hooks on the top and
bottom to which you can attach the handles of a bag to catch the solid
waste. You would thread the dogs tail through one of the handles of the bag,
attach that handle to the top hooks. pass the other handle between the back
legs of the dog and attach it to the hooks on the under side of the dogs
belly.
It is useful for people who have dogs that tend to move around alot while
relieving, and for people who are less ambulatory and have a hard time
picking up after their dogs.
