Thanks, everyone, from Alvin and me, for your helpful tips on nail grinders 
and how to use them.

I got two big commercial Emory boards this weekend, the low-tech approach, 
so I can get Alvin more comfortable with having his feet and nails handled. 
Then, if things go well, I'll get one of those grinders.

I'm hoping that, with the prospect of treats and the occasional foot 
massage, my big fellow will follow me around asking for his next nail trim.
