[nagdu] getting gum off of a dog

I use both aloe vera gel and olive oil on Mitzi. In fact, I want to get
an aloe vera plant one of these days. And I would love to find lanolin
again! How did that get to be a scarce resource? I was asking my
groomer, and even he can't find it anywhere. I am not above using
mineral oil baby oil on my own precious skin at times, but... I'm not
willing to put it on my dog. /lol/ So aloe it is, when her coat is
short. I use it a bit on the puppy, too, for itchiness and to keep her
clean. We've decided to wait a few more weeks for her first bath...
/smile/ When Mitzi is grown out and getting woolly, the olive oil
conditions and cleans while making keeping the wool tangle free easier
on both of us. /smile/ It's a bit heavier than I like, which is why I am
looking for lanolin... What is up with the disappearance of lanolin? /lol/

I have heard that mink oil is great for dogs and has some natural pest
prevention attributes... So I priced it. Ha! When we win the lottery, I
will give that one a try. /smile/

In the past, I have used a nice pure shea butter on Mitzi, right after a
shearing and then as her coat grew out, and that seemed to really work
well. But getting pure stuff without a bunch of stuff in it I don't want
her to ingest if she licks at it is beyond my current budget.

Anyway, that's all I know for now. I will remember all these suggestions
for gum removal, though, because I am sure when we get into a big wad of
gum, it will be when the poodle has extra lengths of curls for it to
stick to. Yikes!
