Hi,

Keep in mind that the NFB centers are designed to teach blindness skills
including cane travel and orientation. So, any student will be expected to
participate in the orientation and adjustment classes as well as all other
classes. The centers use the cane as the basic tool which all students are
expected to learn.

Outside the class periods as specified by the centers students can use their
guides. During the day while students are in classes the centers do make
accommodations for the care of guides.

The best thing is to contact the center and speak to someone about your
needs and the needs of your guide if you are anticipating attending classes.
The most important thing I can say is that guide dogs are welcome.

Subject: [nagdu] guide dogs at nfb centers

Hello,
There is discussion on the NABS list about guide dogs at nfb training
centers. I thought I saw an article a long time ago about someone's
experiences with a dog while attending the Colorado Center, but maybe it was
just a NAGDU post? Also, does anyone know the current CCB policy? I know at
LCB and BLIND Inc. where I went last year, guides could be worked to and
from the center, on breaks, and weekends, but I thought the CCB policy was
different.

Thanks,
Martha
