Hi Jenny.
Welcome to the list.  Retiring a dog young is very hard.  Getting beat up
by other people about it must be even worse, especially when they're
people one might reasonably expect to be supportive.
Wishing you the best for bringing it all to a good resolution, even if
that takes some time.
