[nagdu] When is the Connection Too Much?

Sure, I love my dog. And I don't think of her as a robot, unless it's the
Terminator. <grin>

but I agree that there's a time and a place to mention the dog that doesn't
include the technical aspects of her guide work. I feel the same way about
people who interject things about their children or their faith into every
discussion. yes, kids and religion can change people for the better most of
the time. But there's a time and a place and I don't want to hear about
them over and over on a list set aside for a different topic, especially
because there are lists and Facebook pages and forums dedicated to dogs and
kids and religion.

I don't sign Katy's name to most Emails, but I do have her name and birthday
in my Email address. This address is used for most recreational lists and
not the one I use when sending professional notes. Plus it doesn't indicate
Katy is a guide dog, just a lab born on December 17. Not signing your dog's
name to an Email doesn't necessarily indicate whether or not that dog is
loved, IMO.

I'm on plenty of lists where it is encouraged and just assumed that we will
discuss our dogs and the amazing things they do, but I don't discuss Katy on
a tech list or on my pressure cooker list because dogs, no matter how
beautiful and amazing they are, aren't the scope of the list.

Lisa

I'll try anything once, especially if it's chocolate covered!
