What a great opportunity for you! Congrats on being asked and participating.

I've taken several of FEMA's on-line courses as part of the Coast Guard
Auxiliary's leadership programs and they are very accessible so having
people with disabilities participate in their events like this doesn't
surprise me.

As for what to cover, I think probably making sure to give descriptions of
what's going on, not just shoving people here and there would be helpful.
Also, the dog is yours to worry about, not their responsibility and the dog
does not leave you unless there are some pretty dire circumstances.
Allergies or concerns about allergies of others isn't one of those.

Please be sure to tell us how it all goes and thanks for doing this.

Hello all,
Godiva and I will be participating in a FEMA training tomorrow evening. The
audience will include doctors nurses and volunteers who will assist in
evacuating the city in case of an emergency such as flood, fire or terrorist
attack. We were asked to participate because we are a Team.
I am supposed to give an overview of blindness and explain my specific
vision loss. Then I am supposed to explain what I would need in such a
situation as a Handler. What would Godiva and I specifically need in a
shelter and what do I want the doctors nurses and volunteers to know about a
Team.
I have a pretty good idea what I am going to say, but I would like input in
case I am missing something.
Thanks for your assistance.
