My school provided me with a 40-pound bag of Natural Balance, a
leash, I bought another leash, a tiedown, a furniture ring, an
antler, a bowl, and his harness.

Hi all,

I forgot to add that Pilot Dogs also provides you with a brush,
leash,
harness, collar, and a few days worth of dog food until you
switch
foods when you get home.

I think most schools provide the items Juanita lists.
GDB also offers a vet stipend for those who need it, and Fidelco
might
 provide dog food.

 Hello Lizzie,
I think it depends on what school you decide to attend that
determines
how much you end up spending. The school I attended provided a
tie-down and a bed, so I did not have to worry about buying
either
one. They also provided 2 toys, which Anise still has.
Additionally,
they provided a grooming kit with all the supplies necessary to
groom
your dog, so I had no worries of spending money on that end
either.
Not all schools provide these things, it just depends where you
go.

 Hi all,
I know a few weeks ago there was an awesome discussion about
saving money when buying food. I'm just wondering, what are
some
other ways to save money while still taking great care of your
dog? One way that I recently learned was to just buy a dog bed
and tie down in stead of buying a crate. Any other suggestions?
Also, since I have never had a dog, there are probably expenses
that I'm not even thinking of yet, so feel free to enlighten me.
 Thanks!
 Lizzy
