Do most schools make you wait a year to claim ownership? Gdd
does. They said I will have ownership on October 7th, 2013.

Hannah,

i am sorry you won't get to keep her. That really stinks. If my
memory is serving me correctly, Princess is a poodle, right?
There are other schools who use poodles, where you can get
ownership. Not that I am plugging for my school, but its
something to think about. I have also had a pup, and had to send
her back to the school because of that ownership thing. I won't
go back to a school that doesn't give ownership every again.

When is your semester over? Nor did I realize that you were
living in dorms. I am sorry. atleast for me, I commute to my
university so I can escape that life.

Thank you marsha and all. Yes, university life is very
difficult for dogs
and it does take a lot. Guess Princess doesn't have it either.
She is only 3 acording to Pilot, and they seem to want her back.
I haven't
really been able to connect with them because they are not
calling me back.
I can't have a pet in the dorms and I can't really afford to
keep one
either, but I do have very close friends who would love to have
Princess.
I'm going to do my best to try to keep her, but since I don't
have ownership
of her and she is only 3, I think that she'll get some more
training with
Pilot and go work with someone else. Maybe she'll do better in
other
 environments, who knows...

 Hannah,

Awwww I am very very sorry to hear about this. Its so hard to
retire your
parnter at any point. Espically during your semester. I have
been there done
that, not sure i want to do that again.

I am learning as a university student myself it takes a very
very special
pup to be able to put up with university life. My university
also has many
of the same challenges as yours. Squirrels, bikers,
skateboarders, thousands
of students, cars, trucks, subway, train, birds, and more. The
pup so far is
 doing great, emma could not.

I wish you luck. Will you keep Princess as a pet? And will you
get another
 guide? Just curious.

 Hello all,
I hope everyone is doing well. I haven't been posting or
keeping up
with everything recently because this is my first quarter at UC
Davis
and things have been pretty crazy. Now that everything is sort
of
falling in to place, I wanted to welcome everyone who is new to
the
list, the people who have returned, and an update about
Princess.
Unfortunately she has not improved much since I last posted
about her
 work.
it has been almost a year, and campus is a pretty busy place.
We have
a lot of distractions - all the students, over 20,000 bikes, and
the
millions of squirrels that we pass every day - so Princess is
not
doing so well. I thought that perhaps being here for over 3
months
would help, but it has not, and she continuously walks me in to
objects, wants to run after the squirrels or students, and seeks
attention from everyone who says something along the lines of,
"awww! Cute
 doggie!".
With all this in mind, I have decided that I will retire her
because
of all the stress for her and for me.
I know that it will be a great loss since we've bonded, but I've
also
had a lot of time to get used to this idea. I don't know when I
will
retire her because Pilot has not been very good about returning
my
calls, but I do know that it will happen very soon.
I'm sure many of you have gone through this before, and I just
hope
that I won't be too depressed over it.
Once again I hope everyone is doing well with your guides, and
happy
Thanksgiving! :) All the best, Hannah
