[nagdu] Grooming questions.

Deanna,
I take Princess in every six to eight weeks, but that's because she is a
poodle and her hair grows pretty fast. It's pretty hot in Davis in the
summer so I am more careful with it.
She hates being washed and I don't really like washing her either so we've
decided that the groomers is our next best choice. She seems to love going
but it can get kind of pricy. I've taken her to Petco a few times, but I've
found a couple of little scabs on her a week or two after she comes back
from their. It's not a big deal, but if I can avoid that, then I would. I've
been taking her to a place that grooms show dogs so it's a bit more pricy
but I really like the people, the way they cut her hair, it grows back super
nicely, and it lasts longer than six weeks.
Hope this helps,
hannah

Hi all,

Do any of you have dogs that do not like to be brushed/groomed?

My dog, Pascal has always disliked being brushed. Every time I get my
grooming kit out, he runs and tries to hide.

He will tolerate being brushed, but gives me dirty looks and acts like I am
torturing him. I don't think it hurts him, as I use a softer than normal
slicker brush, and occasionally a Furminator. I also don't use a strong
pressure when I run the brush through. He doesn't act like it hurts, or
wince in pain (which is always good, LOL) As soon as I am done he turns
back into his normal happy self. I give him praise when he behaves well, and
if he is really good, he gets a kibble afterwards as a treat.

Any thoughts or suggestions on making grooming more enjoyable for him?

I also have a question about bathing and professional grooming.

Do you all bathe your dogs at home? If so, how often?

Do you take your dog to get professionally groomed? How often?

Thank you!

Deanna and Pascal
