I also have this type of cane. While at the convention, the same thing
happened to me . As the cane was relatively new, I went to the NFB table and
discussed it with them. Apparently, the piece that is supposed to fit into
the bottom section, slips down into the section to which it is supposed to
be attached. You straighten a clothes hanger, push it through that section
until the offending piece pops out. This does work, but who wants to carry a
clothes hanger around with them. I hope the Independence Store gets a better
model of the folding cane.

Hello all and Happy almost New YearSo here's what happened to my almost
brand new cane from NFB.

Not good! Foun out my almost new folding cane from NFB is broken. Missing
one of the tapered parts that fits into the joint. I have a guide dog, so
the cane has been barely used. Went out to lunch with a friend and couldn't
use my cane. It just sat there, the joint hanging limply, not going
together. I have no idea how it happened.

Called Independence Market at www.nfb.org and it appears to be closed. Guess
I'll have to go online and order one. Can they be repared? It doesn't look
like it! So more money to spend, as if I have any! (very disgusted frown).
