[nagdu] getting lost

True, but your dog understands how to pick out and follow places designated
as walking places, like sidewalks, trails, etc and that is often a great
help.

Doug: if you treated your dog, would that be called a Lexi con?

: That would probably work inside a building or in an area that you have
: traveled before, but it is not something that I would do in a new,
: unfamiliar area. Yes, our dogs often learn fast, but not that fast.
Unless
: I was going back to a place that I had specifically named or I knew, it is
: not something that I would do. For example, if I walked out of my building
: at work and headed down a path that I had not previously traveled and got
: lost, I might do it as Lexia would know to return to the building.
However,
: if I went to a new building at work and got lost outside of it, Lexia
would
: not know which building to return to or anything like that.

:
: Dar and everyone,
: When you get lost why don't you do an about with your dog and tell it find
: the way leading you back to where you began?
: I also ask directions when I am going somewhere. Example: A few weeks ago
I
: went into another county where I was the guest speaker . I was not
familiar
: with were I was going. I called the agency up where I was speaking and
asked
: all kinds of questions . Like are there steps, one or two doors to go
: through , elevator, when I get off the bus do I walk left or right to the
: building. Is there a receptionist desk? I am out in the field for a my
job
: a lot so I need to rely on Anna to find thing for me. She does do a great
: job of guiding me . Its not easy not seeing and going to strange places
but
: once you have been there its easier.
: Marilyn and Anna
