[nagdu] Rules about Being in the Bed was RE: a new dog bed

Nicole,

No rules here, strictly speaking. With two dogs and two humans, we've
worked out our various places and routines... Mostly. Some nights it
does start to seem like the dogs generously allow us room on the bed but
only if we don't take up too much or disturb them from wherever they
have decided to sleep. /lol/ Actually, Mitzi doesn't like to be bothered
with a lot of human tossing and turning and leg moving, so she will get
off the bed and go to the couch, making sure to give a big loud sigh so
we know how much we have inconvenienced her. /lol/ The pup is getting
better about giving up space when asked, which is nice. She's a brick,
so trying to move her when she's not cooperating is kinda futile.

It seems like they like to lie smack in our spots while we are getting
ready for bed, just so that we can make them move when we're ready to
join them. I wonder what that is really about. I've noticed that dogs
will do that with your favorite chair if you get up and mean to sit back
down or if they know you are heading for the chair to sit in it. They
jump into it and look at you as if they cannot conceive that you would
dare to ask them to move! Then you ask them to move and they do. So
what's that about?
