Thanks to everyone for your reassurance. I appreciate the support.

He's back home now. He's a bit tired, but not so much that anyone but
those who live with him would notice. He's a very busy dog normally.

His foot is in a bandage, which we have to keep dry somehow. I just
used one of my pick up baggies to go over his bandage, sort of twisting
and tying it on his foot. I don't have dog boots. any ideas on a
better way to keep the bandage dry? The bandage can come off tomorrow.

He doesn't have a cone. I just have to watch him and make sure he
doesn't bother the bandage. I've put him in his crate so he can rest.
I'm just across the hall. I can hear if he starts licking.

He's going to be fine. I'll use my cane for a few days to make sure
everything is healed up. He will probably hate being left behind
though. through the whole thing he never let out even a whimper.
Stoic. He did start holding his foot up by the time we got to the vet,
but he never complained, even when I touched his nail to see how bad
it was.

And someone mentioned the expense...the bill was $58 and some change.
Country vets are extremely affordable! Something like this would have
cost probably $300 when I lived in a big city.

Thanks again for being there when I was stressing,
Julie
