I'm not Marsha, but I can answer your question.

No, you want to use the support cane on the opposite side.  when I broke my 
right foot, I was instructed to use a support cane on the left.

hello Marsha,
I hope this isn't too personal of a question, but is one side weaker than 
the other? I seem to notice that when I'm having issues, my right side seems 
to be the bad guy. So in that case, is the right hand the appropriate one to 
hold a support cane in?
