all,
Very interesting thread. And I think that Larry, brings up a very good question. Are there laws for working dogs? Working dogs like bomb sniffing dogs, drug sniffing dogs, but bug dogs. And is there a list of tasks that each of those working dogs does in comparison to an assistance/service dog? What sets them apart?
I think, speaking as the moderator, as long as we keep this on target, in regards to guide dogs, service dogs, assistant dogs, then it is on topic for this list.
Thank you,

But as so often happens when I get my wrist slapped in public, I started thinking! Could I have refused the dog coming in? Or could a nursing home refuse? Or, if the woman happened to want to stop for a bite would she have to leave her heat sensative equipment in the car? The dog was well trained so that at least isn't the issue. Also members of the Canine unit are allowed in other places as well. And now that dogs are being trained to sniff out drugs, bombs diseases and bedbugs it seems that it may become harder to refuse them into businesses. Is there a working dog law as well as a service dog one? and, are there certain jobs listed for those working dogs that make it ok to go into public places and others, and here I'm thinking of herding dogs or hunting dogs, that can't go into places. If you go to the doctor and there is a diabetes or cancer sniffing dog, can you refuse to have the doctor use it? Well, actually I do know the answer to that one, yes! But at least in the case of the bedbug sniffer dogs may be much more efficent! If we can clog up the list with all of this fake service dog stuff why not think about the dogs who, like our dogs have relevant jobs to do! After all, a well trained dog is a well trained dog no matter what its job is! Sure, this list is about guide dogs and the issues surrounding them but sometimes dogs that aren't guide dogs often perform amazing and often unthaught of taks. Dogs have been awarded metals for some of those jobs and I'm glad that sometimes are guide dogs get some of that recognition. I had to take my dogs outside for about 10 minutes and her dog was done before that! They went threw the whole house and nothing was detected. I was talking to her about the dogs training and she told me it was at least a couple of months long and was like that of drug sniffing dogs. I mean, those bugs are the size of grains of rice and she said that he could detect them even if there wer only a couple. Iether those things really stink or that nose is really sensative! Well, sorry I disturbed some of you with my currisities but, I really did think that golden boy had an amazing nose!
