Mary,
I understand. I too have balance problems and the ice presents a challenge every winter. I also have asthma that flares when its cold. In addition, because I use hearing aids, and having to bundle up so much, most of the time when I travel I can't hear. Sometimes I wonder if my pup thinks I am crazy. I understand. And like you I am anxiously awaiting spring. 
Do what you can in doors, try your best, and spring will be here soon.
