[nagdu] water intake question

Hi John,
I think that you are doing a great job! It is hard not having had a dog
before either as a pet or a guide. It is like bringing home a baby from
the hospital for the first time parents. You are anxious and worried
about doing everything right and Mollie senses this, all our dogs pick
up on our emotional state and they react accordingly.

I do not know about your blindness or your level of perception but it
seems to me that your parents, neighbors and Home Health Care Aide are
responding based on the myths several myths pertaining to Blind people.
They see Blind people as someone, who needs help and who does not have
personal autonomy.

I know that it can feel overwhelming to have the responsibility of
caring for another living thing, ever gorgeous Mollie, who is your guide
dog and trusted companion. But the responsibility (walking, picking up
poop, feeding) doing obedience training is outweighed by the
dependability, hard work and joy that Mollie will give in return.

Please give yourself a break. Recognize that this is a learning
experience for both of you. Pay attention to the school. But stand
firm in your belief that you alone are Mollie's responsibility. Have
faith and confidence that Pilot would not have given her to you if they
did not think you were capable of handling her. So relax. Take a deep
breath and remember you are still learning about your dog. Listen to
Mollie as you work to establish a comfortable daily routine for feeding
and breaking/parking.

Have a good evening,
In Christ,
Janice and Retired Destiny
