[nagdu] New law targets service animal imposters

Marty, I share your heartbreak. While none of my dogs were attacked
while working, my Eden was repeatedly, I believe and ultimately, taken
by humans. You see, I was forced to put her outside once I was forced
to move in with my parents and then when they remodeled their home
where they are currently. She was retired, and yes, I do know some
handlers do this, and yes I did make the school aware of the situation
though I am not bound by contract. They advised me to call the police
and animal control which I did and nothing was ever done. In fact, the
calls seemed to me to be handled in a dismissive manner. I do know she
was ill and perhaps she passed during the night and someone buried her
for me since she wasn't in her house the next morning when I got up
and went out to feed and water her. I like to think that is what
happened you know like a good Samaritan. My dog was microchipped as
well. When I was going through rough times leading up to the divorce
as well when I lived in Baton rouge, I called the police 6 times and
nothing was ever really done. Need I say, nothing ended in my favor.
So now, the question is often asked of me by my kids and family when I
am going back and what about the house we had, but am I guaranteed to
be kept safe? Why should I trust any police with my life again?

It'd be nice if LA could get something like this passed though. Maybe
it's just me who is unlucky. I am sorry for your difficulties and
thank god they didn't result in your dogs becoming traumatized Is all
I can say.
