[nagdu] dogs at convention

Hi Liz, Debby Phillips here. I was kind of in the same boat, but
from the other direction I just came home at the end of May with
Nova. My instructor said that as long as I was able to give Nova
lots of support, she'd be okay. I had a panic moment, and called
home and said, You have to go with me to the convention. Lol.
So I'VE been wanting
Craig to come to an NFB convention for a couple years, and this
time I had a reason. I guess what I'd suggest is to look at two
things: how will she deal with being left home, do you have
someone she can stay with who is trustworthy? If the answer is
that she will be anxious without you, and you don't have someone
that you absolutely trust, take her. Then if you need to skip
something to be with her in your room for some quiet down time,
do that, too. The other thing you might do is take a folding
cane so that you can drop the harness and use your cane if she
starts getting stressed. I think your dog is from Seeing Eye, am
I correct? Barb Engleking, Drew Gibbon, and Doug Bohl will be
there. Well, hope this helps. DEBBY and Nova

Subject: [nagdu] dogs at convention

Hi everyone,

I am considering whether I should take Gabe with me to the
convention as we
will have a record turnout this year which is terrific. It has
been three
years since I attended an NFB convention which was in Dallas.

Gabe is still doing quite well with his guiding although he isn't
too
thrilled about spending much time in the heat.

He also has a minor heart murmur which is not affecting his work,
but I do
want to be careful with him.

Gabe will be 9 in August, and I think that realistically, I need
to look at
retiring him in the next year or so.

Anyway, if folks want to write to me with their thoughts about
the Rosen
Center, that would be great.

As always thanks for thoughts and suggestions.

Best

Liz Campbell
