Hi, all,
I'm curious if GDB (Guide Dogs for the Blind) is still doing their wheelchair training program?
Another guide dog handler mentioned that she was gold by a GDB grad the wheelchair guide dog training program has been discontinued.
I checked with The Seeing Eye and was told they couldn't help me with this and GDF has turned me down two or three times.
I'm not sure if Southeastern is still doing there program.
Even if so, I wouldn't be able to afford to fly out there for the training.
It looks as if I'm probably going to have to go in the direction of being an owner trainer.
My first goal would be to attend a dog licensing training school here to train for a TL, just to make sure that I am doing everything correctly.
Odie is doing good, but he's going to be twelve this year, November 6, 2015. He'll definitely need to retire.
Although he handled smaller side streets today here in downtown Denver, I know the much more active heavy trafic roads wouldn't be safe for me to to make any street crossings with him.
If anyone has any information on what is happening as far as guide dog wheelchair training programs at schools, please send me email privately off list to avoid unnecessary email reply clutter.
*Smiles and Thank you*
Sincerely:
Bibi and MAR son Odie
