Hi Cindy.
I know this is something you've been wrestling with for a long time. I'm
sure you're relieved to have made the decision. Sometimes, it's just too
much effort to go on. So, while I'm sorry to hear Fischer is retired, I
support you in doing what you feel is best for both of you.
Tracy

Subject: [nagdu] Retirement

Yesterday I retired Fisher. He was distracted by a dog at the Iowa Dept. for
the Blind Monday; I had him under control, but his growl/bark are vicious.
He seems more and more to question what I am asking him to do, and does
silly things like start walking up the dirt when the steps are just off to
the right. Someone has been implying lately that I'm not a good dog handler
and judging what he does. I am just tired of it all and know he isn't
getting enough work. I don't know if that's what's up or if he is actually
ready to retire, but Spencer I ran a year longer than I should have and he
quit in the airport in Minneapolis. Fisher is happy and healthy; I am not
ready to continue this journey with him. I'm sure not asking for
suggestions, just saying that I've retired him. I had called TSE in August
and they called back but I wasn't home; I called again and they never
returned my call, but there really isn't any more to say about it. It's been
great other than the ongoing dog issue with him and I'm glad to have worked
with him. I'm going to keep him. This will be the first time I've done that.
It's a little strange, but it's all good.
