Anne, set ground rules. He will take his dog to obedience classes. He will
clean up after his dog and yours. You will feed both dogs. He will brush or
take turns brushing both dogs. You will share in the extra vacuuming. I got
dumped on me everything except clean up and obedience by my husband. I was
fine when I liked the dog, but grew annoyed as my health declined and the
new dog was just, annoying destructive. I found myself disliking the both of
them. So, ground rules in place makes a much happier home.

We have baby sat many dogs here and it worked out fine, smile.

Subject: [NAGDU] guide dogs and pet dogs

Hi,
Does anyone here own both a guide dog and pet dog? If so, have you had any
issues with either dog?
I just got my first guide dog about a month ago, and my boyfriend who lives
with me is thinking of getting a pet dog.
Does the guide dog still understand their role as a guide dog? Does the pet
dog get upset that it stays home while the guide leaves? Any issues with
territory, or sharing?
I'm not worried about my guide dog; she grew up with several dogs, and loves
other dogs we see, but pet dogs are raised so much differently.
Thanks,
Anne
