Hey Everyone,
The minutes have yet to go out to everyone from our last meeting because the secretary is feeling a bit under the weather. Just a reminder though that coming away from this last meeting, we determined that we would all brain storm and come up with ideas on how to promote the upcoming Midwest Regional Goalball Tournament to the public. I will be contacting Luke and asking him about us as an organization volunteering our time to help the tournament and while doing this wearing some NFB sweat shirts, which if it is a go, then I will order those sweat shirts. Also, we all need to start brainstorming on good fund raising ideas for the chapter, as we still have a decent financial supply, but it will not last long once we get going on some more projects.

The tournament is the last day of February and the first of March (Feb 28 through March 1, that Saturday and Sunday). I've attached a flyer with some more information. Meanwhile, send in your ideas for both topics to Leanne and she will compile them and we will send out a task list for everyone soon. Also, if your able to as well, keep that weekend open for volunteer opportunities.

Note, good job to JJ on the library project, I'll get in touch with you guys soon, we'll break out the calendars and set a date.

Another note, their is a nation wide event that is coming up having to do with the Braille Literacy project and the 200th anniversary of Lewis Braille's birthday. The NFB would like each chapter to hold a table at a local organization (which one I'm not sure of) on January 4, 2009. They have packets that they can send each chapter upon request which includes Braille alphabet cards, flyers, a display poster and some more. I don't know if we will be able to receive the packaged materials on time since the deadline for ordering was December 12, but I think that we can still contribute to this program. I am just baffled though on where to do such a thing...so if anyone has ideas, we already have a letter made up to hand over to the business, and we could get this thing rolling soon.

Lots to think about, but lets keep rolling everyone. I hope that your Christmas and New years are going well, enjoy your friends and families.

President of the NFB of Kalamazoo
PS- Don't forget to put the date for the next meeting on your calendar, which is January 12, 2009

  Hi Tyler,

I just wanted to ask if it would be possible to make a decision about the
weather and tonight's meeting by 5:00pm? I know Corda usually stays in town
if we are having meetings and I know Tim and I will stay downtown if we are
having a meeting. I know this is early, it is just what would be most
convenient. I know the advisory starts at 4pm so I am thinking we will have
a decent idea by 5? I could be wrong.

  Any other input?

  THANKS!
