Subject: WMU/MBAA 2011 GOAL BALL National Tournament needs you

Good afternoon everyone,

Please let me take a moment to introduce myself for some that may not know me. My name is Mary Lou Brooks I have been involved for years with the Goalball tournament and Sports Camp here at WMU.

This year is more challenging than ever for us. This past fall we all lost our good friend Sherry Gordan. As many of you knew, Sherry went out and got volunteers and then kept track of everyone and what they were assigned to do. She knew everyone's strengths and put them to good use. I am trying really hard to do what our dear friend Sherry Gordan had done for years, with regards to seeking out volunteers for the National Goal Ball Tournament. We are going to need your help more than ever, we are looking for 75 - 85 volunteers. Without Sherry it has been more difficult trying to reach our past supporters like yourself. We are asking that you take a moment to read the 2011 Tournament announcement, and consider volunteering some of your time. Just think about how happy it would make Sherry to know that you are there with us on February 26th and February 27th doing what she loved to do, volunteering and giving of your time to help others.

Please take a quick look at the flier and let me know if you have any questions and where you would like to volunteer. There are many types of jobs to choose from; Tables have 5 people each that consists of score keeper, 2 time keepers, and two , there are at least 2 to 4 line judges at each court, Then we have runners between the courts, there is a keeper of the scoring charts, 3 registration tables, concession stand, lunch servers, court setup crew, take down crew and many more. Please let me know the areas you are interested in or have experience in. There will be training for all volunteers.

Typically the Saturday is broke into two shifts morning (7:30 a.m. -1:00) and afternoon (1:00-7:00 p.m.). Sunday only has a morning shift (7:30 a.m. to noon). It is better for us if someone commits to a longer time frame, but I am extremely flexible and willing to schedule you for how many hours you can give. Bring a friend or two and you could request to be working together.

Thank you everyone for helping to get the word out about the event and the need for volunteers.

Don't forget Lunch is provided.

Please respond back to me so that I know that your contact information worked. It was on one of the documents that Sherry had given me in 2009.

Take care and Thank you,
Mary Lou
