Passing along an opportunity for students between the ages of 18-24 who are not able to participate in the STEP program for whatever reason. Or if STEP is over at this point, could be a good addition. 😊

Thanks,

Tara

if students aren’t able to get into the bell program or the program for transitioning students with Kelly, perhaps they would be interested in this Hull program in Sandy Oregon.

You'll compare mobility possibilities for travel to and from work and while on the job; explore vocational and employment resources and mentorship; and enjoy unique hands-on experiences with dogs. There will be ample time to connect with one another and make new friends, and to enjoy the beautiful Pacific Northwest! The program will be held at the Hull Foundation & Learning Center in Sandy, Oregon, which is roughly seven miles from Guide Dogs for the Blind's Oregon campus.

Careers & Canine Connections is FREE and designed for youth who are blind or visually impaired and whose vision loss is their primary disability. The Careers & Canine Connections program may not be an appropriate fit for participants whose behavioral, developmental or mobility concerns are more challenging than their vision loss. Additionally, all participants MUST be independent with their activities of daily living i.e., dressing, bathing, eating.

The schedule is packed with fun and engaging learning opportunities from beginning to end.

Participants are responsible for transportation to and from the Hull Foundation & Learning Center in Sandy, Oregon, or the Portland International Airport. If transportation is a financial burden, please inquire about assistance.

Applications are DUE on or before March 31, 2025 Applications received after this date will be put on a waitlist. We recommend you apply early as summer programs are popular and fill up quickly.

Thank you.
