Residential Life Assistants

The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is currently recruiting a part-time graveyard, part-time evening and full-time evening Residential Life Assistants.  Will be required to provide individual and group guidance services related to scholastic, educational, personal hygiene and social skill development to students who are blind/visually impaired, with/without other impairments.  Part-time nine-month graveyard position: 1:15 am to 7:15 am.  Part-time nine-month evening position: 3:30 pm to 9:30 pm.  Full-time nine-month evening position: 3:30 pm to 11:30 pm. Graveyard shift provides vigilant supervision and assists with morning hygiene.  Part-time and full-time evening shifts will be required to become Braille proficient.  Must remain awake for all shifts.  Positions available for the 2025-2026 school year.  Applications accepted until filled.

 

Administrative Assistant to Personnel Prep Program

The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is recruiting an Administrative Assistant.  This individual provides administrative support to the NMSU TVI and O&M Personnel Preparation Programs (PPP), including transporting the adjunct faculty to observations and meetings throughout the state.  Responsible for coordinating activities related to the program and with NMSBVI mentors, assists with the admissions process, reviewing reports and other data necessary to meet program objectives.  Is responsible for the maintenance of multiple files and databases and the transmission of routing and confidential correspondence.  High school diploma or GED required and two years related experience and/or training.  Full-time, 12‑month position. Applications accepted until filled.

Developmental Vision Specialist

The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Infant Toddler Program is seeking a Developmental Vision Specialist. This position will serve the Metro (Albuquerque) and Northwest area of New Mexico with travel to other parts of the state as needed.  Must be eligible for a Developmental Specialist II or III license with the New Mexico FIT Program. Must have a BA/BS or higher in Early Childhood, or related field. This position requires continuing education and enrollment in and completion of the Visual Impairment Program (VIP) at NMSU. This position will require training to become proficient in Braille.  This individual will provide early intervention services in home and community settings that support young children 0-3 years old with or at risk for visual impairments. This includes collaboration with Early Intervention and Early Childhood agencies. A valid driver’s license is a requirement, as driving and travel are part of this position. Prefer experience in early intervention/home-visiting and experience working with young children who are blind or visually impaired.  Applications accepted until filled.

This position will require training to become proficient in Braille. This individual will provide family/home intervention services that support young children 0-3 years old with or at risk for visual impairments. This includes collaboration with Early Intervention and Early Childhood agencies. A valid driver’s license is a requirement, as driving and travel are part of this position. Prefer experience in early intervention/home-visiting and experience working with young children who are blind or visually impaired. Prefer bilingual English/Spanish.
