Every month we get together to learn about blindness. We get together to
learn how others do the things they do after they lose their vision,
something they have relied on for some or all of their lives. Come join us
on Wednesday, June 11, , at 7:00 P. m MSDT. Christine Boone will be filling
us in on how she got to be the person she is today!

Born in Massachusetts Christine was raised in rural New Jersey before
attending the University of Colorado at Boulder where she earned a bachelor
of arts in history and political science. She then began her career and
Blindness rehab rehabilitation. Christine worked at the Denver public
library as occurs while trainer, Nebraska services for the visually impaired
as a rehab rehabilitation teacher, orientation and mobility instructor and
counselor; at the New Mexico Commission for the Blind as a grant writer and
then founded The summer training and employment program in New Mexico.
Returning to Nebraska she attended Creighton University school of law and
after passing the bar Christine worked for a Nationwide law firm doing
defense work for the hospitality industry. The family moved to Pennsylvania
where Christine wasn't associate attorney in the office of chief council for
the governor of Pennsylvania and the Department of labor and industry. She
directed the Pennsylvania bureau of blindness and visual services after
writing the legislation that successfully transferred the bureau away from
welfare but kept it as a separate bureau in labor and industry. She then
worked as corporate council for blind industries and services of Maryland,
comprehensive adult rehab rehabilitation training center director in
Kalamazoo Michigan, and briefly as an interim superintendent at the Oklahoma
school for the blind and visually impaired. Christine now lives in Nebraska
and hopes to return to the practice of law after overcoming a severely
disabling condition as a result of the Covid vaccine.

The National Federation of the Blind is a community of members and friends
who believe in the hopes and dreams of the nation's blind. Every day we work
together to help blind people live the lives they want.

NFB Pledge:

I pledge to participate actively in the efforts of the National Federation
of the Blind to achieve equality, opportunity, and security for the blind;
to support the policies and programs of the Federation; and to abide by its
constitution.

NFB Belief statement

the Blind advances the lives of its members and all blind people in the
United States. We know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines
you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people,
because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our
dreams. Our collective power, determination, and diversity achieve the
aspirations of all blind people.
