Dear NFB Family,

As I will be seeing many of you in person at our NFBNM State Convention later this week, I wanted to take a minute to share my good news from today and give you a quick summary of how things stand. Many of you know I was diagnosed in August of 2023 with Leiomyosarcoma (LMS), a cancer known to be very aggressive. I reached maximum improvement on chemotherapy around the end of February this year, so we switched things up, and I’ve been receiving a much less taxing treatment since then.

Now I have a CT scan every 3 months to check if the tumors are growing; as long as they don’t grow, I can stay off chemo. Well, I had my last CT scan on Friday, and it once again showed no tumor growth! One tumor even shrank a bit. This is awesome, because now I can stay off chemo until my next scan in January.

January of 2026 will make 11 months of being off chemo, which is much better than what I had been led to expect from my current treatment regimen. I am so grateful to God for His kindness and blessings and how He always takes good care of me. I am also very grateful for my NFB family and all the kindness and support you have given me since my journey with LMS began.

I’ll be hanging out at the registration table with Sarah and her crew when registration is open, so I hope to see many of you and catch up on how you have been doing. Here’s wishing you safe travels and a fabulous convention!

Best wishes,

Tonia Trapp, secretary
