[NFB-NM] Parent Scholarship Letter

Dear Friends:

The National Federation of the Blind of New Mexico (NFBNM) is once again offering a scholarship for a first-time attendee of one parent and their blind child to attend the 2026 national convention of the National Federation of the Blind.

This scholarship will enable a blind child and his/her parent to attend the national convention of the National Federation of the Blind, on July 3-8, 2026 in Austin, Texas.  The scholarship will help to cover the cost of a round-trip flight from Albuquerque to Austin, NFB Camp, hotel, convention registration and a banquet ticket for each parent/child.

Applicants must submit a letter of interest by Friday, December 12, 2025.  The letter of interest should introduce the parent and child, describe how the family discovered the NFBNM and how this has impacted the family.  It should also describe how attending the National Federation of the Blind convention would benefit both the parent and the child. We invite and strongly encourage that the interested parent and child attend our state convention, so that they would have an idea as to what to expect from the national experience. This year’s convention will be held at the Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown, 2600 Louisiana Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico, from October 23-26, 2025.

Scholarship winners will be chosen by a committee, and the winner will be contacted no later than December 19, 2025.
