Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation.

Quote by Brian Tracy,

Come join us on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 7:00 P. M. Mountain in our Zoom room. Daphne Mitchell will be enlightening us about life. Here is her short bio.

Daphne Mitchell was introduced to the National Federation of the Blind by Marie Aamodt, her TVI in 1993, and shortly thereafter, she joined the Caddo-Bossier Chapter of the NFB of Louisiana. Daphne attended the Summer Training and Employment Project (STEP) at the Louisiana Center for the Blind (LCB) in 1997 and 1998. After graduating from high school, Daphne enrolled in the Center’s adult program.

Daphne holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Louisiana Tech University and a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from Texas Tech University HSC. In addition, she has earned several graduate certificates focused on leadership. Currently, Daphne manages vocational rehabilitation field services for the New Mexico Commission for the Blind. Daphne serves as the 1st Vice President of the Albuquerque Chapter, secretary of the Louisiana Center for the Blind Board of Directors and is a board member of the National Association of Blind Rehabilitation Professionals. She also serves on the national Diversity and inclusion Committee and the national Scholarship Committee for the National Federation of the Blind. Daphne credits her success to two powerful influences: the unwavering love and determination instilled in her by her mother, Tolita, and the confidence she gained through her training at the Center and the positive philosophy of the NFB. Her story is a testament to the power of belief and the importance of a strong support system.

NFB Pledge:

I pledge to participate actively in the efforts of the National Federation of the Blind

to achieve equality, opportunity, and security for the blind;

to support the policies and programs of the Federation; and to abide by its constitution.

NFB Belief message

the National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members and all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination, and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.
