*Every month we get together to learn about blindness. We get together to
learn how others do the things they do after they lose their vision,
something they have relied on for some or all of their lives. *

*Come join us on Wednesday, February 11, at 7:00 P.M. MT. *

*Come alone or bring a friend, either way we will be happy to see you!*

*Marina Tapia-Cansino will be our speaker. I have known her since the early
nineties when she attended and participated in the STEP Program and I know
she will give an interesting and exciting presentation. Here is a tiny bit
of her bio. If you want the rest of it, please let me know and I will share
it with you.*

Marina A. Tapia Cansino, Esquire

Marina began practicing law in 2009. Marina is respected for her expertise
and zealous advocacy on behalf of the disadvantaged

and vulnerable. Her firm specializes in adult guardianship and
conservatorship; life planning and estate planning; litigation of undue
influence; fiduciary

administration; and probate administration. Mrs. Tapia Cansino is a native
of New Mexico. At age 16 and many years thereafter, she served as a
grassroots lobbyist

for legislative initiatives on behalf of the disabled in Washington, D.C.,
New Mexico, and Connecticut. Marina graduated from Trinity College in
Hartford,

Connecticut with a B.A., a double major in Political Science and Elementary
Education in May 1999. Marina’s first job out of college, she persuaded
Connecticut legislators

to pass legislation to improve Braille literacy. Recruited by several
lobbying firms thereafter, Tapia Cansino declined these offers to attend
law school

fulltime. Marina attended Northeastern University School of Law in Boston,
Massachusetts. In 2005, Tapia-Cansino had her daughter and enjoyed staying
at home full time until her daughter began preschool.

And though Marina has done many-many more things that I believe you would
love to know about I am not adding them here. Here’s a bit more.

July 2022 Marina returned to solo practice managing her own firm Cansino
Law Firm LLC.

Marina is very active in the legal community.

She has organized and presented at several Continuing Learning Education
(CLE) programs regarding elder law and adult guardianship and
conservatorship since

2014.

NFB Pledge:

I pledge to participate actively in the efforts of the National Federation
of the Blind to achieve equality, opportunity, and security for the blind;
to support the policies and programs of the Federation; and to abide by its
constitution.

NFB Belief statement

the National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members and
all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination,
and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.
