[NFB-NM] new application deadline of March 15 for scholarship for parent and blind child to attend NFB National Convention

Dear Friends:

The National Federation of the Blind of New Mexico (NFBNM) is once again offering a scholarship for a first-time attendee of one parent and their blind child to attend the 2026 national convention of the National Federation of the Blind.

This scholarship will enable a blind child and one parent to attend the national convention of the National Federation of the Blind, on July 3-8, 2026 in Austin, Texas.  The scholarship will help to cover the cost of a round-trip flight from Albuquerque to Austin, NFB Camp, hotel, convention registration and a banquet ticket for both the parent and child.

Applicants must submit a letter of interest by Sunday, March 15, 2026.  The letter of interest should introduce the parent and child, describe how the family discovered the NFBNM and how this has impacted the family.  It should also describe how attending the National Federation of the Blind convention would benefit both the parent and the child.

The letter should be sent to German Benitez, Scholarship Chairman, by e-mail at nfbnm.treasurer at gmail.com<mailto:nfbnm.treasurer at gmail.com> or by mail to 3416 B Herrera Rd. NW, Albuquerque, NM  87105.  Please include your contact information, phone number, email address and mailing address.

Scholarship winners will be chosen by a committee, and the winner will be contacted no later than March 31, 2026.
