Hello,
Which software would you plan to use for the scanning? As far as I know 
infty reader (http://www.inftyproject.org) is the only one which 
recognises maths notation. From there you could save it as a file 
containing MathML and use one of the Braille translation packages which 
support maths as MathML. BrailleBlaster is planned to support this, but 
for the mean time until its ready you may wish to use the underlying 
translation engine with its command line interface liblouisutdml 
(http://liblouisutdml.googlecode.com). Both BrailleBlaster and 
liblouisutdml are free and open source software packages, there are some 
other Braille translation tools which claim to do maths which are 
commercial, but I will not speak anything for those commercial offerings.
