Hello:

When it comes to 3d rapid prototyping, in my opinion, this technology is best used for models that are difficult to make. It would be very useful for subjects such as biology, anthropology, archeology, some engineering and some math courses. As for the cost of a model, it depends on what material and how large a model is desired. If you wanted a full sized replica of the Rosetta Stone, the replica would be thousands of dollars. On the other hand, if you wanted a scaled up model of a spear point, such a model might be less than one hundred dollars.

When it comes to showing circuits, I would certainly suggest the use of actual components. For more on tactile graphics, see my article in the April 2012 Braille Monitor. I will have some samples of 3d technologies with me at convention, so feel free to look me up.

Regards,

Robert
